Vigo County Emcom Code of Conduct
In order to maintain a consistent and respectable working environment for the local community and members we have elected to publish guidelines under which we expect Vigo County Emcom registered members will operate.
· All applicants for Emcom will be subjected to a criminal background check. If an applicant or current member has been convicted of a Felony of any classification then they will not be permitted to join / remain with EmCom.
· If an Emcom member is arrested he/she will be immediately placed on suspension of any Emcom related activities and must relinquish their Vigo County EMA / IDHS ID badge to the Emcom Emergency Coordinator or Deputy Coordinator. Upon review and outcome of said situation that person may be permanently removed from Emcom.
· Emcom members will conduct themselves with respect and courtesy to those we serve and to the general public.
· Emcom members when working in public will be in proper uniform and will be neat in appearance. Failure to do so provides a negative impact on Emcom and the agencies we serve. This also gives us continuity as a group.
· Emcom members will not act as or be perceived as agents or employees of the agencies whom we serve. We are a serving agency and have no authority to act on behalf of the agency.
· Emcom members will not solicit contributions or gifts, merchandise or services from any individuals or businesses while using the name of local EMA, Red Cross or any other agency that we may serve. All solicitations using the name of Vigo County Emergency Communications Team must be pre-approved by Emcom leadership.
· Emcom members shall not use the logos or identifying marks of the served agencies without prior approval in writing by those said agencies.
· EmCom members may use flashing lights that are in accordance with the local and state law.
· The use of the Vigo County EMA / IDHS ID badge and the Vigo County EmCom badge will be limited to Emcom related meeting and/or events of which said agencies have requested Emcom participation. These ID badges are NOT to be used for any other reason and violation of this guideline will result in the immediate removal of said identification and removal from the Emcom membership.
